About
Dr. Rasmussen is a fellowship-trained orthopedic surgeon specializing in total hip and knee replacements. He grew up in Mitchell, South Dakota, and completed medical school at USD Sanford School of Medicine. After residency at the University of Florida Jacksonville and a resident researcher appointment at Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville, he completed the Hedley Adult Reconstruction fellowship in Phoenix, AZ, at Abrazo Orthopedic Specialists.
Soft tissue preservation is critical in achieving rapid recovery after total joint replacement. For this reason, Dr. Rasmussen employs less invasive techniques during joint replacement, including the SuperPATH® tissue-sparing surgical approach for total hip replacement, the subvastus quadriceps-sparing approach for total knee replacement, and robotic-assisted surgery. These techniques may enable the patient to leave the hospital earlier without requiring the typical post-operative hip restrictions. Additionally, Dr. Rasmussen enjoys complex revision joint replacement, general orthopedics, and orthopedic trauma.
During his free time, Dr. Rasmussen enjoys spending time with his family and being outdoors. He enjoys sharing his love of hiking, biking, golfing, and skiing with his wife and two sons. In addition, Dr. Rasmussen and his wife love exploring the local food scene, and he always appreciates a good restaurant recommendation.

Testimonials for Dr. Walker
I saw Dr. Alvine in Pipestone, MN. This has helped me miss less work. I have benefited from the PT also.
This was my first visit to the institute. The receptionist was very helpful and friendly. Dr Alvine and Mary, who I saw are exceptional.
I have been going to Dr. Alvine since 2009 or so... have always been treated well and have had my questions answered to my understanding! I have severe ankle and feet issues.... and have several surgeries with Dr. Alvine and it has improved my quality of life!! All staff from walking in the door to leaving have been polite and helpful!
Dr. Alvine and Mary have been taking care of me for the last 7 years since having a major back, ankle, and leg injury! I’ve had two additional surgeries in the last 4 years and can’t thank Dr. Alvine, Mary, and their staff enough for everything they have done. I highly recommend them to anyone with an orthopedic injury!
I have been so scared to get the surgery Dr. Alvine recommended and finally got it done Wednesday and I couldn't be happier! The pain I have from the surgery is less than when I was going to work everyday and trying to live a normal life! The staff and Dr. Alvine have been the most pleasant and comforting people I have ever met. Knowing that they care and are there to help has made this process so much smoother for me. And even hearing that I will need yet another surgery I can say I am not worried about it and know that I can trust everyone there. THANK YOU all at Core orthopedic
Dr. Alvine preformed an ankle fusion on my left ankle in 2016. It was a complete success. So glad he did it.

ORTHOPEDIC TRAUMA AND FRACTURE CARE
About
Dr. Rothrock is a native of Clay Center, NE and joined Orthopedic Institute in 2009. Prior to that, his training took him across the United States. He completed his residency in Orlando, FL, where he gained extensive experience in care of the trauma patient, including operative experience with pelvic and acetabular surgery. He then moved to New York where he completed a year of subspecialty training in musculoskeletal oncology and he became an expert in limb salvage surgery and adept at tumor resection. He practiced in Louisville, KY before returning to the Midwest to be close to family.
Dr. Rothrock is an expert in hip and knee joint reconstruction and revision surgery, minimally invasive direct anterior hip replacement, pelvic and extremity trauma, and arthroscopic surgery. He was the first doctor in this region to introduce the anterior “from the front” hip replacement surgery to patients.
As a board certified orthopedic surgeon, Dr. Rothrock is adamant about not setting limitations for his patients. “The sky is the limit for what patients can do and accomplish after surgery. It is my duty and my passion to give every opportunity to make whatever their goals are a reality. That is why I continue to search for less invasive ways to perform surgery and speed recovery.”
When Dr. Rothrock isn’t taking care of his patients, he enjoys hunting, especially big game, and spending time with his family.

Testimonials
I went to Dr. Rothrock 8 years ago and had a total hip replacement. I was back to work full time on my 4th week!! Up and down on the floor teaching kids. He is personable, has a sense of humor, plus he is tops in his field!!! He is never pushy, cares about his patients and always has options for you.
Dr Corey Rothrock is the best! I have struggled with lots of pain in my hips and legs. After many visits with other doctors who were trying to treat the pain and not the problem, I finally found Dr Corey Rothrock! He went right to work and replaced the left hip in November and the right hip in February (he fixed the problem!) His procedure for hip replacement is quick with a fast recovery (4 weeks off work). Thank you Dr. Corey Rothrock!
Doctor Rothrock was just who I needed. He answered all my questions before surgery and I felt secure and comfortable with him. I really enjoyed seeing him the next morning, which was unexpected considering he has a busy schedule. It made me feel good he stopped by. I’m doing good and improving daily.
After hearing many positive reviews from others, I made an appointment with Dr. Rothrock. I was not disappointed! He was everything that the reviews had said-- punctual, compassionate, knowledgeable, and patient. When the time comes that you are tired of battling the pain and limiting your life because of it, consult with Dr. Rothrock. He will provide you with the options available to you and let you make the choice that will be of most benefit.
Dr. Rothrock spent the right amount of time with me, reviewed my history and records, and to my surprise, I did not need hip replacement surgery (yet). He simply prescribed an anti-inflammatory/pain reliever (which has worked GREAT thus far). I was very pleased with his thoroughness, yet brevity, in explaining things in layman’s terms and sufficient detail for me to understand.
