Arthritis

Regain Your Independence From Hip, Shoulder or Knee Arthritis

Arthritis is a leading cause of physical disability in the United States. Severe arthritis with debilitating pain can greatly limit your ability to live a normal life and will inhibit your independence. Please consult a physician at the Orthopedic Institute if you are experiencing any of the following:

  • Cannot walk more than a limited distance

  • Chronic pain and stiffness

  • Limping

  • Difficulty walking up stairs

  • Difficulty sitting

  • Difficulty dressing or undressing

  • Considering Total Joint Replacement

To justify total joint replacement, your pain should be of disability proportions, not just an inconvenience. If the pain can no longer be managed with medication and is compromising the quality of your life, our evaluation and recommendations should be of help to you.

The Surgical Procedure

Total joint replacement involves affixing a specially designed prosthesis, or artificial joint, to the bone to replace the damaged joint. Eventually, the artificial joint will interlock with surrounding bone. This procedure involves a brief hospital stay. Patients are usually amazed at the speed of their relief from pain and how quickly they regain their mobility.

The Orthopedic Institute physicians specialize in total joint replacement of the hip, knee and shoulder. Please see us if you are experiencing any kind of joint pain.
